My mom says that when I was a kid, it took only two things to make me happy: food and sleep
And not much has changed since then. If my body gets its needed fuel in form of food and sleep I’m almost unstoppable.
Let me introduce myself. Hey, my name is Katharina and I’m glad you found your way here. Since August 2019 I’m fortunate to call the magical island of Bali my home. It is where I live and work with my wonderful fiancé.
I’m M.Sc. Human Nutrition, just about to finish my Phd in nutritional physiology and pathophysiology and a certified Yoga teacher.
I love food and I’m kind of obsessed about how it affects our well-being. That’s why I studied nutrition in the first place.
After finishing my M.Sc. I decided to keep working in nutritional science as a research assistant at the University to learn more about how different foods, nutrients and dietary patterns affect our health and what we can do to support it.
However, I love science and doing research, working on different international intervention studies showed me, that this is not where I see myself working long term.
It was too one-sided. Too far away from the day-to-day reality of most of us.
► I missed seeing how the results we generated actually helped people in their daily life.
► I missed creative and holistic approaches that not only focus on our physical but also our mental body.
► I missed the focus on reconnecting people with their innate ability to regulate their eating.
To solve these issues, I decided to step out of academia and help people in a way beyond what I could do while working in scientific research. I further educated myself in Yoga and traditional healing systems like Ayurveda and Accupressure, and started to actually use my scientific knowledge to help people to life a happy and healthy life. I do so by combining latest nutrition research results with the powerful techniques of the ancient knowledge-loaded science Yoga.
And let’s be honest, almost everybody of us struggles with food, nutrition or the body image. There are so many myths about food and ‘healthy’ nutrition and I don’t even get started about the diet jungle out there.

I was in a search for an ashram that would give me something specific. I checked many ashrams until I found Rishikesh Yogi Ashram, I just had a feeling that this is the right one for me and I wasn't wrong. Sandeep welcomed me nicely and I told him that I came for the Silent Meditation Retreat and I am in search of something. He told me all I needed and a day after I came and started the retreat. After the retreat I felt so good in every aspect, physically and mentally so I decided to stay for another week to do the Yoga retreat. Sandeep is very nice, professional, wise and understanding person. If you have any query or situation, he will help you and when it comes to the Asanas he is very strict and will push you until your body breaks, but you will make the Asana properly eventually.
